June 14, 2018
Monday, June 18, 2018 road work will begin on Pinckney Road from south of Schafer Rd to south of Triangle Lake. Rieth Riley Construction Company Inc. is the prime contractor. The majority of the work consists of milling off the existing asphalt surface and placing 3 new layers of hot mix asphalt and paving 3 foot of the existing aggregate shoulders (similar to the road projects to the north).
Additional work will be done in “Dinkelville”. The existing asphalt curbs will be removed and the road will be re-graded to provide a 3 foot paved shoulder outside the travel lane (white line). There will also be a 2.5 foot concrete curb placed beyond the paved shoulder to provide proper drainage.
We will begin the curb and gutter removals and grading on the northbound lane (east side of Pinckney Rd) the week of June 18. Access will be maintained to area homes with temporary aggregate ramps until the curb and gutter and concrete approaches are placed. Prior to placing the concrete, we will notify residents to park their cars outside of their driveways (possibly at a neighbors across the street or a side street) for approximately 3 days until the concrete has achieved adequate strength for vehicular loads. We will remove the approach barriers and ramp driveways as soon as proper concrete strength is verified to allow residents vehicular access to their drives. Once the northbound work is complete the Contractor will move to the Southbound side (west side) and repeat the above process.
After the curb and gutter and grading work is complete in “Dinkelville” the entire road surface from south of Schafer to south of Triangle Lake will be milled and repaved along with all the other necessary related work, such as aggregate shoulders and pavement markings. The entire project will be completed by July 31, 2018.
Any sprinklers within the work zone (approximately 25 feet from center line) should be pulled back until construction is complete. Please turn off any sprinklers that may spray into the work zone. This will compromise the quality of the work.
Mailboxes will be removed and temporary gang mail boxes will be placed at one location within the project to be determined by the mail carrier. Residents will be notified of the temporary mailbox location. Resident’s mailboxes will be permanently placed after final project restoration.
Garbage pickup will be accommodated for the duration of the project. We may ask to reschedule pick up during the final course of asphalt paving to avoid marks in the road surface due to stopping and starting of the heavy garbage truck.
We understand that this construction will be very inconvenient, especially in your residential area. We hope to complete the work as efficiently as possible to minimize your inconvenience.
The contractor will be required to provide access to residents and property owners internal to the project limits during construction. However, as with any construction project, there may be brief periods where the contractor cannot provide access to your home or business while working on your driveway approach or other tasks.
